Sunday Services – Rev. Stephen Atkinson – What is Easter to Unitarian Universalists?

Great Hall

April 5 - What is Easter to Unitarian Universalists? Spring festivals have been part of human culture perhaps even further into the past than we have evidence for. Religious significance has grown up around them, but the foundation rests on the joy of returning growth and new life. Today’s service will be a collage of Spring and Easter images, words and music. The Rev. Stephen Atkinson has enjoyed being with us in the past, and is glad to be here again this week. His parish ministry was at North Shore Unitarian Church in West Vancouver BC, and he trained and practiced chaplaincy briefly at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton. Now, he enjoys retirement, volunteering for First Unitarian Church of Hamilton and the Ministerial Fellowship Committee of the UUA, and, especially, guest preaching.

Sunday Services – Rev. Carly Murlor – A Matter of Perspective

Great Hall

April 12 - A Matter of Perspective To walk a mile in someone else’s shoes, as the saying goes, is simple in concept but often difficult in practice. What insights are possible when we truly make space for other’s experiences and stories, even when — or especially when — they challenge our own values and perceptions of the world? Rev Carly Murlor is passionate about innovation and building multi-generational community in UU communities, as well as weaving spiritual growth, community building, and social justice together.  She is currently serving UCM as our pastoral care minister.
