Get Curious About Others

Jubilee Media produces some of the most provocative and important conversational videos on the internet. Their video series is called Middle Ground. It brings together people from opposite sides of various issues to talk, debate, get to know each other and hopefully leave a little more curious about the other side rather than just judging them. It’s something we all could use a little help doing.

This month’s exercise is simple: get curious about others. You can explore a few of the Middle Ground videos. Watch them all or just the ones that grab your interest. There are more available on their YouTube channel.

If you have someone in your life with very different views, you might want to try a conversation. Ask if they would be willing to talk with some guidelines like “this is barn raising not a battleground” and “first seek to understand”. Only try this with someone who is open to a curious conversation and if you yourself can stay in the curious zone.

Come to your small group ready to share how your curiosity about “the other side” changed you.
