SUMMARY:Sunday Services – Rev. Stephen Atkinson – What is Easter to Unitarian Universalists?
DESCRIPTION:April 5 – What is Easter to Unitarian Universalists? \nSpring festivals have been part of human culture perhaps even further into the past than we have evidence for. Religious significance has grown up around them\, but the foundation rests on the joy of returning growth and new life. Today’s service will be a collage of Spring and Easter images\, words and music. \nThe Rev. Stephen Atkinson has enjoyed being with us in the past\, and is glad to be here again this week. His parish ministry was at North Shore Unitarian Church in West Vancouver BC\, and he trained and practiced chaplaincy briefly at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton. Now\, he enjoys retirement\, volunteering for First Unitarian Church of Hamilton and the Ministerial Fellowship Committee of the UUA\, and\, especially\, guest preaching.

SUMMARY:Sunday Services – Rev. Rita Capezzi – What is Radical Hospitality?
DESCRIPTION:March 1 – What is Radical Hospitality?\nRev Rita Capezzi \nIf you are here\, you must feel like you belong.  And if UCM is such a wonderful and welcoming place\, why are we such a small congregation?  What are the barriers to inclusion that we might not even notice?  How might we capitalize on what we do well and amplify that to do even better\, to bring even more people into a circle of care and belonging? Join Rev. Dr Rita Capezzi to explore these questions and more\, through song\, story\, reading\, and reflections.  With Service Associate Emma Willemsma. \nJoin Rev Rita and the UCM Board after worship for an interactive workshop where we will delve into how to become a more radically hospitable congregation and why it matters. \nRev. Dr Rita Capezzi is a Unitarian Universalist minister based in Buffalo\, NY. Rev Rita served as UCM’s Interim Minister from August 2023 through December 2025.

SUMMARY:Sunday Services – Rev. Victoria Ingram – Telling Stories
DESCRIPTION:February 22 – Rev Victoria Ingram\nTelling Stories \nSince people developed language\, we’ve been telling stories.  Stories\nto explain why things\nare the way they are\, stories to explain natural phenomena\, stories to\nentertain\, stories to\nshare a moral\, stories to pass along wisdom\, to name a few.  In modern\ntimes\, we have a\nplethora of ways to get information.  Unfortunately\, not all of them\nare as reliable about\ntelling us the truth as they once were.  Today we look at stories and\nhow to discern truth\nor truths from what we read or hear. \nWe welcome back Rev. Victoria Ingram to UCM.  Victoria served the First Unitarian Church of Hamilton for 11 years until her retirement in 2021.

SUMMARY:Sunday Services – Rev. Joan Maontagnes – The Space Between Us
DESCRIPTION:February 8 – The Space Between Us\nA blessing is an encouragement\, a healing\, a comfort\, or simply a loving kindness. It travels through the unknown space from one to another often through words\, but sometimes through a gentle smile\, a hot meal\, a struggle for forgiveness\, or by including the “other” into your life. \nThe retired Rev. Joan Montagnes is delighted to reside in Ontario again after 30 years of serving congregations in the United States. She received degrees in botany from the University of Toronto and the University of Alberta\, and her MDiv. From Meadville/Lombard Theological School. Her connection to this congregation is three-fold. First\, she was inspired to enter the ministry by the Rev. Mark DeWolfe; second\, this congregation is the closest UU society to her home in Caledon East; and third\, the Rev. Rita Capezi was on the Ministerial Search Committee that invited Joan to candidate for the Unitarian Universalist Church of Buffalo in 2015.
