Sunday Service: Connect with the Earth

October 3 @ 10:30 am - 12:00 pm

We are gathering in person this Sunday at 10:30am!  This Sunday at 10:30am I will be exploring our seventh principle, the one dearest to my heart: respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part. Despite the awkward wording, this is the principle which affirmed for me that Unitarian Universalism was my spiritual home. How does a theology of interdependence guide us in this time of climate crisis? We welcome Susan Berry as a new service leader and she will also be speaking to the good work of the Mississauga Climate Action Group. This is a multi-platform service - we will be in person in the Great Hall, with Zoom and YouTube options. At the building, we will stay outside before the service (unless it is raining) and exit shortly after. We are working on safety protocols to bring a safe return to coffee hour in a few weeks. Please register for contact tracing purposes but know that you can also just show up on the day. Thank you all for your patience as we live into this new way of being together. For in person Service, register here: https://uucm.ca/registration-sunday-service/  Our safety protocols include: Limit to 60 attendees Registration in advance Attendees be fully vaccinated Masks must be worn indoors Chairs will be spaced into household groups No congregational singing Sunday Services Zoom Link Time: October 3, 2021 10:30 AM Eastern Time (US and Canada) Join Zoom Meeting https://us02web.zoom.us/j/88155648070 Meeting ID: 881 5564 8070 Phone In via: 647-374-4685 The YouTube livestream of the Service will also be available to subscibers to the UCM channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCD8jh9eDfIPsl51oMKSpqPw?view_as=subscriber Please be aware our livestream is public. Amnesty International Petitions

October 3 @ 10:30 am - 12:00 pm

Amnesty International Petitions This Sunday October 3rd is the first Amnesty International letter writing campaign of this church season, and we invite in-person attendees to read all three letters on the Amnesty tables and sign and address the letters (we will send them). Two of the letters are to Prime Minister Trudeau, one advocating donation of 50% of our Covid vaccines to Covax, and one urging Mr. Trudeau to improve government response to Reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples of Canada. The other letter is to Premier John Horgan of B.C. advocating a ban on clear-cutting of remaining old growth forests in B.C. If you are attending by Zoom or YouTube, please download the three letters, scan them and print them, then sign and address them. Then scan again, and email two of them to Prime Minister Trudeau at justin.trudeau@parl.gc.ca, and the other to Premier John Horgan at premier@gov.bc.ca Click here to download the letters. You may add your own handwritten message on the physical letters, or edit the electronic letters to add a personal message. Thank you for your support.
