Sunday Service: Judgement Free Zone

October 20 @ 10:30 am - 12:00 pm

In an increasingly divisive world, where it is ever easier to become entrenched in "being right" and dismissing "the other side", the skill of listening is a vital tool in restoration of relationship. Listening well is also deeply satisfying, restorative to our spirit when we create that "alternating current" with another person. This Sunday at 10:30am, we will engage in listening practices in small groups, hear stories about how listening without judgement can alter outcomes, and enjoy a gift of music from our choir. Monday October 21st is the date of the Federal Election. If you haven't already voted, I encourage you to exercise our 5th principle of democracy and vote.  Every person's vote matters. I am delighted that we have a new Director of Lifespan Learning, Kathleen Cairnie-Sorensen. Kathleen brings a wealth of experience and a warm hearted spirit to UCM, we are fortunate to have her join our chalice community. She began work this past Tuesday and will be with us this Sunday. I look forward to a wonderful Sunday with all of you. Blessings, Fiona Stay after the service for UU Roots – a one hour session about our ancestors.

Festive Fair - Volunteer Fair October 20th! Only a few more weeks until our annual Festive Fair on November 16th! We will be holding another volunteer info session and sign-up after service on October 20th so please think about how you want to be involved. There are many areas where you can help including the Café, Treasure Trove, Silent Auction and Bake Tables and as a Greeter to name just a few. As this is my last year as Chair please let me know if you are interested in taking on the Festive Fair in 2020. It would be great if you could work with me this year to help with a smooth transition. Candice Rice

UU Roots

October 20 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

UU Roots Founders Hall, 12:00pm to 1:00pm Sunday October 20th This month we arrive at the Protestant Reformation and see the seeds of Unitarianism sprout in fire and flame. Come hear about stalwart stubbornness of early Unitarians who argued for their freedom to believe according to their conscience. Once a month after service, join the Rev. Fiona Heath as we go back in time to the origins of our religious tradition. It involves heretics, kings, utopian communes, scientists, and much, much more! This is an excellent opportunity to expand your knowledge of Unitarian Universalism and learn more about your spiritual ancestors. You can attend one or all. No registration required.
