Accurate information presented in developmentally appropriate ways Affective and emotional learning Guiding values and principles Activities that help participants clarify values and improve decision-making skills A safe and supportive peer group Acceptance of diversity A social justice approach to inclusive sexuality education Step-by-step instructions for program promotion, implementation, and facilitation Parent orientation that affirms parents as their children’s primary sexuality educators Our programming will be focusing on ages 10-12 exclusively This ten-workshop curriculum is designed to help children ages nine through twelve to gain the knowledge, life principles, and skills they need to understand and express their sexuality in holistic, life-enhancing ways. Like the other, Our Whole Lives programs for different age groups, this comprehensive, developmentally appropriate program introduces key topics like values, body image, gender and sexual identity, peer pressure, and healthy relationships with sensitivity and inclusiveness, yet without specific religious doctrine or reference. Sunday Service: Diving In

February 3 @ 10:30 am - 12:00 pm
Unitarian Congregation in Mississauga Sunday Service

Read Reverend Fiona's Reflection. I am amazed by the depth of the cold this week - even the bright sunshine is without warmth - it reminds me how dependent I am on mechanical heat for my very survival. Most mornings I murmur winter thanks/to the furnace - tall, steel rectangle/containing flawless flame from Marcus Jackson's poem Winter Thanks when I hear the furnace rumble to life. I am so very grateful to furnaces, tea kettles and car seat warmers; what have you been grateful for during this chilly, snowy week? February brings us the theme of Flow, exploring that rare experience of flow of  deep immersion in creative activity. This Sunday at 10:30, I look at how creativity and faith might help bring us into the flow. On Monday, we have the privilege of hosting a World Interfaith Harmony Prayer Breakfast, sponsored by the Interfaith Council of Peel. The Mayor will be present to hear prayers of peace from many faiths. UCM members are welcome to attend, details are below. I look forward to being with you this Sunday. Blessings, Fiona
