In her award-winning sermon, “The Land of Enough,” the Rev. Cecelia Kingman says, “Communities of faith perform a singular function. They have what sociologists call an alternative imagination, an ability to posit a future different from, and better than, the present we know.” Here at UCM, we offer just such an alternative imagination, a mission we re-state each Sunday morning—to deepen the spirit, nurture community, and act for an equitable, sustainable world. As our Canvass draws to a close, we reflect on why we give to this community, and what this community gives to us. Rev. Rita preaching, with Service Associate Charlotte Ferworn.
Friendship Hour will include a Cultures and Cuisines Potluck, followed at 12:15p by the next in our “Living into Our Covenant” series. We will explore “Listen deeply and seek understanding” with facilitators Rev. Rita and Director-at-Large Brenda Poole.
