Celebrating International Day of Peace, followed by a Cultures & Cuisines Potluck organized by Family Life Coordinator Caitlyn Seale. Today we celebrate the International Day of Peace, observed around the world each year on September 21st.
Established in 1981 by unanimous United Nations resolution, Peace Day provides a globally shared date for all humanity to commit to Peace above all differences and to contribute to building a Culture of Peace. As we re-dedicate our Peace Pole, we will call ourselves to resist bullying in our communities, violence in our country, and war across the world as we seek compassion for ourselves and others.
We are hoping to start outdoors, singing around the Peace Pole, then processing into the Sanctuary. And, we take a special collection today for Flaming Chalice International, to support persecuted Unitarian Universalists in and from Rwanda.
