This Sunday at 10:30am, I consider the interweaving nature of memory and money. Both are tricksters, refracting our values and identity like a circus hall of mirrors. What we remember shapes who we are right now, and the things we own, and the meaning we give them, also shapes our memories.
I spent last weekend at the Parliament of World Religions, exploring indigenous spirituality and faith responses to climate change. I left impressed and inspired by the dedication of so many people to living with love and compassion and caring for our earth. Our green sanctuary application will be going into the UUA shortly, and we hope to hear back by Christmas; once approved we will launch our action plan in the new year. We focus on how to care for the world’s water, with a special Water Festival next April.
As we move into the dark of the year, I feel gratitude for the warm light of this chalice community, and for the commitment of all of you, the members and friends.
I look forward to being with all of you this Sunday.
