We are gathering in person this Sunday at 10:30am!
With last week’s annual Ritual of Mourning, the falling leaves and the change in the weather I can feel the earth turning towards winter’s chill embrace. I’m craving hot chai tea and buttered toast as the days turn crisp. The changing seasons surprise me every year – is it that time already? – and I am grateful for the way they root me in the here and now.
I need those deep roots as we face the here and now of the climate crisis. This Saturday at 1:00pm as part of a global response to the COP26 summit there is a Climate Justice Action at Queen’s Park. I will be there, along with UUs from across the GTA, and I invite you to join me at this critical moment for planetary health (see below for details and meeting site).
Facing the challenges of here and now requires resilience so I am offering a one-hour workshop this Sunday in-person after the service, in which we will try several short useful practices which can keep you grounded (see below).
This Sunday at 10:30am (in person, on Zoom and YouTube) we return to our consideration of the principles, lifting up our fifth principle: the right of conscience and the use of the democratic process within our congregations and in society at large. What does it take to talk together well so that democracy can work? Our annual Canvass campaign kicks off this Sunday as we ask all of you to consider the role UCM plays in your life and how your generous financial gifts helps us thrive.

Coffee & Tea Returns!
Coffee and tea after service was enjoyed by many people last Sunday. Thanks to all who brought their travel mugs last week, please assist by bringing your own travel mug each Sunday. Beverages will be served by our friendly greeters at tables that will be set up at the back of the hall. You are asked to remain seated while you consume your beverage. Enjoy.
It has been wonderful to be back together safely in the Great Hall. I look forward to seeing you all Sunday.
