The winds of change are sometimes soft warm breezes, sometimes they are a blast of chill air. We live in a time of declining religion, your minister is leaving, and UCM is being challenged to maintain a healthy system that dismantles oppression, to live into our vital eighth principle, while entering a period of congregational renewal. That’s a lot to hold! The wind feels chilly these days (literally and metaphysically!) and that is normal for times of transition.
It is excellent timing then, that this Sunday at 1:00pm is the National Sharing our Faith service from the Canadian Unitarian Council. The service, Covenanting through Transition, asks us “How do we stay in covenant through all of this in our communities? How do we stay in it in a good way when it is hard and people aren’t always their best selves or are disappointed?” As there is a creative ritual included, FLC Caitlyn will have art supplies, shakers, and more for everyone to use. People will also be asked to donate to the CUC’s Sharing our Faith Fund, which supports congregations across the country.
Join me before the service at 12:00pm for a light lunch of vegetable samosas and channa masala ($10 suggested donation), then we will watch the livestream together in the Great Hall.
I have faith in UCM’s DNA, that we are forever engaged in deepening, nurturing, and acting for a better world, and I have faith in all of you, fabulous people that you are! As you continue to listen to one another with open hearts and minds, you will heal and grow together for the better.
