Building Bridges on Earth Sunday
10:00 am – Traditional Medicine and Service
This day will begin with a smudge outside on the lawn at around 10:00 am We move inside for a ceremony exploring the connections between Unitarian elements such as the chalice and our 8 Principles with the 8th Fire teachings of Young Elder Philip Cote. Together we will be exploring the interdependent web of existence in music, story and meditation and raising our spirit to protect Mother Earth. Bring your drum if you have one.
11:30 am – Artists Talk and Coffee Hour – Enjoy an intimate gallery showing of this months “Art in the Hal” artist, Syrian newcomer Suzanne Hamoui will provide a guided viewing during coffee time.
Lunch served from 12:00pm to 12:45pm
1:00 pm Medicine Wheel Workshop – Philip Cote will teach us the “basic knowledge” of the Medicine Wheel, essential for every inhabitant of Turtle Island, whether Indigenous or settler. The 4 section medicine wheel is an incredibly complex teaching instrument. The drum connects to the wheel, so again, bring your drum if you have one. A gift for our teacher is traditional and appropriate, such as an offering of Tobacco.
This 2 -3 hour program is a suggested donation of $20.00 including the lunch and printed materials. Please pre-register by emailing info@eaglespirit.ca and write Medicine Wheel Workshop in the re line. Pre-registering will ensure you receive the printed materials. You may e-transfer your donation to info@eaglespirit.ca or donate at the door. This is a pay-what-you-can event.
Please stay after the service for a light lunch, a talk from April’s featured artist, and a Medicine Wheel workshop led by Philip at 1:30pm ($40 or pay what you can).
