“Let us not wish away the winter. It is a season to itself, not simply the way to spring.” Greta Crosby
It is hard not to wish away winter today as the freezing rain moves into the first snowstorm, making getting around today a bitter challenge. Yet Greta Crosby has it right, for those of us in the northern hemisphere, it’s vital for our spirits for us to embrace the long dark days of winter, to find the glory in facing the chill winds and the joy of playing in the snow. What brings your spirit to life at this time of year? Is it the beauty of a cardinal on a frosty bare branch? Perhaps winter makes you appreciate a cosy home and hot cocoa. May we all find reasons to embrace this season. This Sunday at 10:30am we will celebrate the coming of winter and the longest night with music and readings and pancakes! The youth will be busy that morning making pancakes for a special lunch. We also have our annual Food Bank Collection and the mitten tree is filling up.
I am pleased that I was able to collect my book, Deepening, Nurturing, Acting, this week from the publisher. It will be ready for pick up at Sunday’s service, and from Tisa in the office.
