December has arrived, the month of the brightest lights and longest nights. I need both – the winter festivities of good cheer and the invitation to hibernate and dream in the dark. Both the outward and the inward activities help me maintain my emotional well-being, our Healing & Growing focus this month. On Sunday I will speak to the “survival of the nurtured”, how loving attachments help all of us heal and grow. As Unitarian Universalists we are called to love. What nourishes your loving heart? We will enjoy a gift of song from the choir and practice “joy moves”, actions intended to invoke a sense of joy. In honour of the fifteenth anniversary of the building of the Great Hall, Susan Berry will tell the story of how it all began. Finally, this busy morning sees the launch of our annual Mitten Tree!
Even as this season calls us to love and peace, the holidays can also be a source of stress for many, a time that emphasizes sorrows. If you struggle or just want some good cheer at this time of year, I am hosting a Holiday Sharing Circle on December 14th on-line. We will listen to music and share our stories (as we are comfortable) in a caring circle.
