Sunday Service: Blessing of the Animals

This Sunday we bless the animals!  We open our doors to all the animals that accompany us in life, from beloved pets to those we depend on for sustenance, to the wild ones. All are welcome at this all ages services – bring your animal or a photo – as we celebrate the living creatures of the earth. American poet Stanley Kunitz says “One of the greatest satisfactions of the human spirit is to feel one’s family extends across the borders of the species and belongs to everything that lives.”  Today we widen the circle to include our beloved animals.

Please only bring your dogs, cats, ferrets, birds, lizards, hamsters, pigs and goats that will be comfortable with crowds and noise, they must be secure with a leash or cage. You are also welcome to bring a photo of your pet. If you love animals but don’t have a current companion we are in need of people to represent farm and wild animals. We will have stuffed animals for those who can help, or bring your favourite tiger!

My cockapoo Tikko and I look forward to seeing you on Sunday!
