Amelie, also known as “Le Fabuleux Destin d’Amelie Poulain” is a 2001 French movie from acclaimed director, Jean Pierre Jeunet. The  magic and mystery of Paris is the backdrop to the unfolding of the destiny of Amelie, a young woman living and working in Paris who finds pleasure in secretly helping out others in very imaginative and sometimes mischievous ways. In so doing she begins to allow others to come into her somewhat isolated world. The director is mischievous as well in his telling of the story which brings charm and comedy into the unfolding of Amelie’s world.
