8th Fire Film Series: Beans

Join us for a screening of “Beans” with a special in-person talk by one of the Co-Writers / Executive Producers.

Synopsis: Beans is a semi-autobiographical film directed by Tracey Deer based on historic events that Deer lived through as a child. The story is told through the eyes of a 12 year old Mohawk girl nicknamed “Beans” and explores the 1990 Oka Crisis at Kanesatake when local Indigenous communities stood up against police and military forces over the expansion of a golf course into a burial ground and forest on Mohawk land.
