Gaining a Greater Understanding of Indigenous History

On Wednesday April 19th many people came to the Great Hall to hear Darren Thomas speak. Darren Thomas is Seneca Nation, Bear Clan from the Haudenosaunie. He is a doctoral candidate in the community psychology program at Wilfred Laurier University.

Efforts to work towards reconciling the past relations between the Crown, Canadians and Indigenous peoples will be a challenging and cumbersome journey. What this relationship currently lacks is understanding and empathy. Fellowship Lunches

Building community through fellowship activities makes UCM a very welcoming community.  We are particularly good at fellowship activities involving food - and Sunday lunches are certainly proof of this!

After Sunday service, we gather to enjoy each other's company.  Each week you can enjoy a fresh brewed cup of coffee or tea along with a treat but at least twice a month a delicious lunch is prepared by volunteers.  You will always find a wonderful soup and someone's company to enjoy!  Check the calendar for lunch dates and plan to stay.  Lunch is by donation.

Volunteers who offer to bring a soup, help to prepare the buffet and tables, and (of course) wash up are truly amazing!  You can be amazing too - just email This email address is being protected from spambots.
